Message : I wanted to tell you that my husband is thrilled with his handybar. A lovely young lady from Active Mobility in Longwood Fl. ordered it for me.

I was waiting for his lift to be repaired, and saw the AD on the board-- Earl has a hard time getting out of any chair because of his height--with the Handy bar, he can get in and out of the truck by himself, saving the strain on me.

We wanted to thank you--who would have thought such a little thing in your life would give my husband back some pride and sure save my back from transfering him from the truck to wheel-chair

To Whom It May Concern,

At Hepburn Health Service (HHS) we provide a Volunteer Transport Program at each of the four campuses; Daylesford, Creswick, Clunes and Trentham in Victoria Australia.

HHS recently trialled a Handybar at our Creswick Campus in one of our transport vehicles, and it was a huge success. Some of the folk that we transport regularly, have many problems getting in and out of our vehicles. With the use of Handybar, these people were able, with no help, to get themselves into and out of the cars. In fact, several of these folk were so impressed with the independence that the Handybar provided that they have since purchased one for themselves.

HHS is a not-for-profit organisation with limited funding. With the use of the handybar, we have the opportunity not only to improve our transport service, for both volunteers and clients, there is also an opportunity to promote the Handybar within our community. As a promoter of the Handybar, HHS Volunteer Program would like to request the donation of 4 Handybars (one for each campus) to support the transport program. With over 1,000 transports per year the donation of the handybars would continue to improve the service offered, assisting volunteers transporting clients and to ensure clients remain as independent as possible.

This would be a prime opportunity for your company to demonstrate the uses of the Handybar, an opportunity for advertisement and, of course, would be of great help to the folk that use the Volunteer Transport Program.

Message : Dear HandyBar,

I was introduced to your product by one of my patients through Western Arizona Regional Medical Center Home Health Department. I am often asked to instruct patients, families and hospital staff members in car transfers. This would be a product I would definitely promote for my patients to purchase for safe car transfers. Thank you very much.

"Transferring out of a car has gotten a whole lot easier with the HandyBar! It's a safe, easy, and affordable piece of equipment. As an occupational therapist, I have recommended the HandiBar to several patients with anything from generalized weakness to Parkinson's Disease." -Michelle Abrams, OTR/L

"We need someone in Greenville SC to carry this! I bought my Mom one off QVC, it is a great item. I go to physical therapy weekly and see so many people who would love to have one and would really benefit. Thanks."

  Dear Darryl,

I can't thank you enough for your assistance. I was able to order the new model from one of the companies whose number you gave me. The Handybar should arrive by next Friday.

My husband has been taking chemotherapy and it saps his strength and energy. He dearly loves driving his convertible but it has become increasingly difficult for him to get out of the car. The Handybar will be a tremendous help in assisting him to maneuver as well as preserve his strength.

Bless you for returning my call so quickly and helping my husband to maintain his independence.

I feel much safer knowing that I could get out of my vehicle in an emergency.

Mary using the Handybar I would like to tell you how much I appreciate the Handybar. It is a wonderful help getting in and out of the car. I have arthritis in my knees and before I received the Handybar I had to have help to get out of the car. It is so easy now with the Handybar and less painful than before.

I think the Handybar is a wonderful invention and I would highly recommend it to any one who has difficulty getting in and out of the car.

I would like to compliment you on your creation of the Handybar. I received one for my birthday last January and find it a great asset in getting in and out of my Honda Accord.

I have two bad knees and being able to put all my weight on the bar and push up on it greatly makes it easier to get out of the car. It also gets me in easier as well.

Once again thank you and the best of luck in your new endeavour.

Lady reaching for the Handybar Just saw the Home Business Report article on your Handybar --
congratulations, what a fantastic product.

I just recently had my second baby, and man could I have used one of those bars during the last trimester. Just thought you might like to consider marketing to pregnant women...

I just want to let you know how much I appreciate having the Handybar. It has made a significant difference enabling me to get in and out of my car, as I have severe back and knee problems.

The Handybar has made it much easier for me, and I would strongly recommend it for anyone with the same problems, and also for people with any disability that makes it difficult to get in and out of a car, it is a great help.

Older lady using the Handybar

Thank you for mailing the Handybar so promptly. I bought this for my husband who has Parkinson's disease and found it very difficult to get out of the car. This has solved his problem completely, and he will be taking it to the Parkinson's Support Group meeting on Tuesday. It is entirely possible you will be getting some more orders!

Shirley B.

This is a real God Send! Wonderful help. I will pass the innovation on.
Thanks ever so much

Just like to add my appreciation and admiration for you invention. Cars are so low now and difficult to exit that your Handy Bar arrives as a most timely invention.

After a journey of thousands of miles, your Handibar reached us in excellent condition. I think this does not come as a surprise since the bar is really sturdy and the packing materials you used were strong enough to have it dropped from an airplane flying over Dartmouth. We are glad, however, you chose a more conventional way of delivery.

We have tested it out on our car, a Honda Civic following the instructions in the brochure you sent us and there were no surprises. The tip of the Bar fits easily in the doorstriker and provides good support. The handle is soft and comfortable, When not in use, it can be easily carried in the car, since it is not large and takes up little room. All in all we are very pleased and we are convinced that the Handybar will be a great helper to many people.

We plan to display the materials that motivated us to order the Handybar on the Bulletin Board in our apartment building, where there are many seniors.

We wish you every possible success with you very useful invention and that soon many people will think of you as the person who made their lives a bit easier.

New device godsend if you have difficulty getting in or out of car.

Fifty Plus - By Pedro J. Arrais
Reproduced with permission

Mobility is a priority for seniors because it means independence.

For most, mobility means the car. Unfortunately age and illness take their toll and getting in and out of cars can become difficult. Compounding the problem are cars that are low to the ground. It can become embarrassing to have to have somebody to help you in and out of a car.

A local inventor, Ian Stewart, has a novel solution and it has been flying off the shelves since its introduction in December 1999.

Called the Handybar®, this deceptively simple patented device allows senior drivers and passengers to get in and out of their cars or sport-utility vehicles easily.

The Handybar® is a sculptured anodized-steel shaft with a comfortable, soft-grip handle. It uses the existing door latch as a fulcrum. The elderly and others with mobility problems can use this fulcrum to lever or pivot themselves out of a vehicle. Without such a device, people typically grab the door frame for support, which for many can be uncomfortable.

The bar gives users that added margin of safety. A locking mechanism prevents the unit from being accidentally dislodged.

The device is compact and very portable. Some users carry it with them so that they may use it in a variety of vehicles. Others just leave it in their cars, as it is easy to store.

The Handybar® fits most domestic and Japanese vehicles. It comes with a lifetime warranty.

The product can also be found in the parts department of most car dealerships.

This new product is affordable and represents an investment in one's personal safety and peace of mind.
