“Quite often, the elderly help each other in and out of their cars,” Ian said. “Frequently, the helper ends up hurting themselves in the process. The Handybar® can lessen the risk of potential injury for both people.”
How the Handybar®Works
1. Place the Swivel Cushion on the car seat.

2. Insert the Handybar® into the U-shaped striker plate on your door frame.

3. Use the Handybar® as a handle to lower yourself into your seat. Then use the handle to Swivel yourself into proper position. From here you can hook the metal part of the Handybar, onto the car handle of the car door, and pull the door shut without having to reach too far. Do not forget to remove the Handybar® before closing your door.

The Handybar® is also suitable for individuals weighing up to 350 lbs.
Once again, insert the Handybar® into the U-shaped striker plate located on the driver and passenger-side door frames of the vehicle. Once inserted, use the Handybar® to support your weight as you move yourself in and out of the vehicle. Remove the Handybar® before you close the vehicle door.

Using a Handybar® is like using is exactly like using the arms on a chair to push yourself up.

Ensure your vehicle has two bolts or screws attaching the striker to the door frame. If your vehicle has a light switch in the striker, be sure the Handybar® does not interfere with its operation. Please refer to our "Compatible Vehicles" tab.
